The story follows Kou Mitsuki, son of game developers, who is selected to test his father's new VRMMORPG Destiny Unchain Online. After entering a device called a Cradle, he creates a character named Crim but becomes a female vampire due to glitches and cannot log out. He continues playing, forming a party and completing quests, while his real body transforms into a woman's.

Key characters include Hijiri Furuya, Kou's childhood friend who teaches him to live as a woman after his transformation, and her twin brother Subaru, Kou's best friend. In-game, Hijiri plays as Freya, a high elf, and Subaru plays as Frey, also a high elf.
